Dave Hutchings is Hoggtowne Music’s Shop Foreman. He has been repairing for over 35 years and is a staple in the music community and a trusted repair technician specializing in all areas of student and professional woodwind and brass repair.  He started as an apprentice in one of the nation’s largest music stores and in 1987 moved from East Northport, New York to Gainesville, Florida to work as a technician at Sabine Music. Dave then helped establish Gainesville’s well-known music store Band Central Station, and later took over ownership. It’s because of this vast experience that he is highly respected by students, band directors and professional musicians throughout the region.

Dave has been a member of the National Association of Professional Repair Technicians for over 30 years and attends annual conferences where he continues to train and explore the latest techniques being used in the industry today. He has a Bachelor’s in Music Education from The Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York and because of his gift and love for teaching, Dave continues to train many technicians in the industry. Some have gone on to become world-renowned respected technicians.

Dave is a professional multi-instrumentalist and when not at the repair bench, performs in many musical groups in the Gainesville and North Central Florida area. He enjoys spending time with family, woodworking, landscaping, and of course, “The Gators”.

Dave and his wife Liz raised their two children, Angela and Greg, in Gainesville and have been married for 34 years.
